(11.7.00) We are making progress with our preparations (insurances, visa, etc.). So far we still don't have a solution for our apartment, but we are sure we'll find one.

(13.7.00) Call from Horst Knott, SJ: Our flight is booked...it's finally getting
serious. Departure will be Thursday, 26.10.2000
at 7:00 in the morning.
We'll fly via Amsterdam directly (except for a short stop over in the caribic for refueling)
to Lima, where we will arrive about 16 hours later.

In the meantime we found a good friend who will sit our apartment.
The preparations keep going, but the Spanish class is really working us off. (for 6 weeks, 3 hours after every normal work day).
We are a little worried about the humungous transportation costs for our "extra luggage". (50 to 60 Marks per kilo!), because KLM only allows 20kg per person. We asked a couple forwarding agencies, but they charge exaggerated fees, too. (Two more haven't answered yet.) Does one of you have any ideas?
(15.9.00) Our flight tickets arrived! Now we can apply for our peruvian visas. It's getting serious gradually. :-)
(17.9.00) BIG news: Fujimori announced his resignation! Wow, a big step towards real democracy!

(28.9.00) Our last hope for a cheap possibility to ship our heavy stuff to Jaén was disappointed today. They offered us to ship it to Lima for more than 1600 German Marks. That means that we will take it with us in the same plane we fly in, but via KLM Cargo. This will cost us about 500 Marks which is still expensive, but the best offer we got so far. From Lima on we'll surely find some way to get it up to Jaén. At least that's what friends assured us who had been in over there before.

will celebrate a "fairwell" service with us: in the "kleiner
Gemeinderaum" of the parish St. Thomas Morus (entrance
Konrad-Celtis-Str. 71). Meet us (and some snacks) afterwards for a
"final talk". Everyone is invited! Afterwards we'll keep
celebrating at the Party (with
the band that played at our wedding!!!) Please come all and have a
ball!
